ELeCtiOn SeAsOn!!!!!!!!!!

So if any of you are familiar with the Western Student Association elections you know that they are an exciting, yet busy time of year!

Ha... like I am familiar with the elections... right? All I got from last year's election was they voted, they won, and then they appointed me. However I am told that there was significantly more to the story but the past is the past and as they say, we must move on.

SO. Last WSA senate meeting the two candidates running for the election made their "intent to run speeches," and I am proud to say that both of them are Executive Cabinet members and good friends of mine :)

Erin Kaplan and Lauren Hearit are the two presidential candidates for the 2011-2012 WSA election, (If more decide to run I will edit this post as needed)

Now I want to outline both candidates using the technical way of "What Erin Knows About the Candidates" so you (the reader) will have to research them more to decide for yourself who you think should carry on the glorious and sacred Western Student Association.

First: Erin Kaplan....

Yes this picture is of her and her Grandma. Is that not the cutest thing you have ever seen?

Ok so I met Erin Kaplan in the Spring when I went before the senate to be approved into my position I currently hold. The first words to my roommate when I got home were "there is this girl and her favorite colors are brown and gold and she wants to get married on East Campus." I think my roommate thought I was crazy! No one can love WMU that much right? WRONG. I mean I LOVE Western but I want to get married in a church... NOT ERIN KAPLAN she is dead set on staying at WMU the rest of her life to baste in the wonderfulness that is Kalamazoo and more power to ya girl!

Erin is a jewish bronco, an A-Oh-Pier, a goal setter, and fiercely loyal to her friends. Besides being super involved and a lover to all things brown and gold (NOT BLACK!) Erin has made it her mission to meet all former president's of the WSA and I think that is a remarkable goal. She truly 100% wants to make WMU the best possible place in the whole world (which in her mind it already is!)

Next: Lauren Hearit....

This is LBH as I know her (Lauren Berkshire-Hearit) she's truly a gem!

Ok, so before I met Lauren, I met her mother. DBH is my public relations teacher here at WMU, she is the scariest, funniest, most wismatic (is that a word?) professor i've ever had. She is KNOWN for her stories about her children and one of them is the lovely Lauren Hearit.

So the first thing I hear about Lauren is that she was in Paris "studying abroad" (lucky duck) and she comes from a family of WMU supporters and employees! (google it if your wondering)! I was so intimated by this LBH girl... She was in the Honors College, she was awarded the Medallion Scholarship, AND went to Washington DC to discuss a super high tech idea that I know nothing about before THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS!

Wow. and then I met her. It was like all that indimidation was flushed away by her unique laugh (verrryyyyyyyyyy unique!) and personality that makes you feel comfortable in any place. Lauren is the kind of person you go to when you have school issues, personal issues, or gripes about her mother's midterms THE DAY AFTER SPRING BREAK. She's just that kind of girl, and when all the intelligence, humor, and french is aside Lauren just plainly loves and cares for WMU I mean she's part of a WMU family after all!

  1. I'm pretty sure that Erin is not an A-Oh-Pier, but an AOII, or pronounced A-O-Pi :) Please fix this :)
